Beaches Of Corfu


Corfu has countless and truly heavenly beaches, most of which are easily accessible through the wide road network, while most are awarded with the blue flag. Only rarely you will encounter beaches without umbrellas, sunbeds or some kind of tourism infrastructure. Below you will find a list with some of the beaches of the island, starting from the northwest and moving clockwise.
  • Paramonas (West Corfu): A rather large and nice beach with light sand and blue sea. It does not attract a lot of people and it has no natural shade. Near the beach you can find some taverns and rooms to let.
  • Agios Gordios (West Corfu): This large beach has thin blond sand (and pebble at points) and deep frozen waters. This beach is a rare sight as the trees almost reach the sea, but it is very noisy as it gets crowded. On the left (facing the sea) you can see the Tholeto islet, a tall vertical rock. The beach offers all sorts of facilities, but make sure you get an early start while there is some parking space left.
  • Glyfada (West Corfu): One of the most famous beaches of the island and for good reason, as it has thin golden sand and shallow turquoise water. The largest part of the beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, while it is favored mostly by young people because of its bars, cafeterias and water sports. The beach is long and wide, and it is surrounded by tall hills rich with vegetation where some large hotel units have also grown. Glyfada is not protected from the wind but there is a parking space belonging to the municipality where you can park your car for 2 euro. In this area there is also the Aqualand waterpark for our young friends.
  • Myrtiotissa (West Corfu): This fantastic beach, one of the best one the island, is situated between Glyfada and Ermones beaches. The beach has golden sand, crystal waters and a small river that ends up in the sea from the rocks. There are nudists on the beach but the are limited at its left side. The only negative point and the reason not many people prefer this beach is the difficult access, as you have to walk for 20 minutes in order to reach it, unless you have a 4x4 vehicle.
  • Ermones (West Corfu): This sandy beach is in a scenic deep bay, surrounded by green hills. It has green-blue water and white pebbles, while the pine trees that almost reach the beach provide some shade. It is a superb and quiet beach, with some hotels, restaurants, bars and shops near by.
  • Agios Georgios of Argyrades (Southwest Corfu): This endless stretch of sand, spanning several kilometers, is found close to Halikounas, a bit south of the Korission lagoon. The beach gathers a lot of people but its size prevents it from getting crowded. It is a wide beach with shallow waters, ideal for families with little children, umbrellas, sunbeds, taverns, accommodation, etc.
  • Issos (Southwest Corfu): A long and wide beautiful beach with golden sand right next to Halikounas beach. It is very popular but thanks to its size it rarely gets crowded. The trademark of the beach are the sand hills, towards the side of Halikounas. Part of the beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, while there is no natural shade.
  • Halikounas (Southwest Corfu): A narrow stripe of land separates the beach from the Korission lagoon. This beach has clean shallow sea and thin sand with pebble. It does not attract a lot of people, although it has a beach bar, sunbeds and showers. The cedar-tree forest right behind the beach and the sand hills, give it a distinct look.
  • Moraitika - Mesoggi (Southeast Corfu): Nice and popular beaches with sand, few pebble and shallow sea. Both of them are organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, showers, water sports, taverns and rooms to let.
  • Molos (Southeast Corfu): A large sandy beach with clean shallow sea under the shadow of the hill where the settlement is built. Here you will find a few umbrellas with sunbeds, taverns and rooms to let. The beach has a north orientation and easy access. Along the settlement there are other smaller beaches as well.
  • Kavos (South Corfu): A popular beach than spans several kilometers in length, offering light sand and shallow sea. It is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, taverns, water sports, beach bars and rooms to let.
  • Gardenos (South Corfu): A huge sandy beach, both in length and width, located in a scenic spot. Even during the high season when it gets a lot of visitor, the beach is so large that you will never feel crowded. It has clean water that deepen smoothly and it is organized with easy access, while there is a large parking space right behind the beach. It is usually quiet and equipped with the essentials, like umbrellas and taverns.
  • Paleokastritsa (Northwest Corfu): Paleokastritsa is a popular tourist resort with countless hotels, rooms to let, shops and restaurants, while is has 6 beaches in a very small distance from each other. The sea in this area is very clean but rather cold, while the beaches usually have sand and pebble. The most central beaches (Agia Triada, Agios Spyridoas and Agios Petros) are usually crowded, but the rest (Ampelaki, Platakia and Alipa) are rather quiet and isolated.
  • Agios Georgios Pagon (Northwest Corfu): A beautiful pedal of sand surrounded by imposing rocks that form small isolated bays. The beach is quiet, although it has rich tourist infrastructure while its name is due to the nearby village of Pagoi. For warm and shallow sea pick the left par of the beach (facing the sea), and for deep cold sea choose the right.
  • Arillas (Northwest Corfu): A long but narrow stretch of golden sand. It is a relatively quiet beach with infrastructure for watersports, umbrellas, sunbeds, taverns and rooms to let. The advantages of the beach include warm shallow sea and easy road access.
  • Agios Stefanos (Northwest Corfu): A vast beach with golden sand and clean calm sea, one of the most known beaches of Corfu. There is plenty of parking space behind the beach, while there are also umbrellas, sunbeds, shops, hotels and more.
  • Peroulades (Northwest Corfu): Impressive and beautiful beach surrounded by very tall cliffs which almost reach the sea. Between the rocks and the sea there is so little space left, that the beach disappears under the sea when there are a lot of waves. The beach offers golden sand and blue shallow waters, while there are shops and taverns not far from the sea. You can reach the beach by a path that needs caution.
  • Agios Spyridonas (Northwest Corfu): A cosmopolitan beach that is always full, as it has nice sand and it in a beautiful location. Naturally it is an organized beach with umbrellas, sunbeds, showers, watersports, taverns, shops and hotels.
  • Kassiopi (Northeast Corfu): A highly popular beach and for good reason, as the turquoise water, the white pebble and the verdant bay compose a truly heavenly scenery. It is relatively large but rather narrow, while it is equipped with straw umbrellas, taverns, sunbeds, beach bars and lots of accommodation.
  • Kerasia (Northeast Corfu): An amazing beach with white pebble and crystal turquoise water that transpires a sense of peace. The trees almost reach the sea making umbrellas abundant. This is one of the est beaches of Corfu and this is the reason so many people favor it, despite the fact that it is not yet widely known. Since you will not want to leave the beach, there is a tavern at the side where you can have a bite.
  • Mparmpati (Northeast Corfu): The piece of land you can see from high above being surrounded by green is the Mparmpati beach. The beautiful landscape with the verdant island Pantokrator standing behind the beach, the green-blue water and the endless stretch of golden sand, draw tourists like a magnet. The organized beach is sheltered from the wind and it is easily accessible through the main road.
  • Ypsos (Northeast Corfu): A long beach with light sand and clean sea. It is preferred b a lot of people because it has umbrellas, sunbeds, water sports, restaurants and all sorts of accommodation.
  • Dasia (Northeast Corfu): A known long and narrow beach with sand and thin pebble. Its waters are shallow and on the beach there are big trees and some straw umbrellas where you can find shelter from the burning sun. It attracts large crowds as it offers lots of facilities like diving platforms, water sports, restaurants, hotels, etc.
  • Sidari (North Corfu): Sidari is famous due to the Love Canal (Canal d' amour) located at its west side. The morphology of this area is a rare sight, with the yellowish rocks that form canals. This area has a lot of trees and a lot of accommodation, while the cold water has a turquoise green color. If you plan on swimming in the Canal d' amour you should get a head start, as it gets very crowded. All beaches in this area are organized with shallow sea and all kinds of tourist facilities. This is where the boats start for daily excursions to the nearby islands, while there is also a hotel with a water park (water slides) in the area.
  • Roda (North Corfu): An endless sandy beach with many big hotel units. The beach offers thin dark sand and shallow sea, while it gathers a lot of people as it has almost anything you might need: umbrellas, sunbeds, taverns, beach bars, etc.
  • Arahavi (North Corfu): A very long stretch of sand with dozens of hotels and facilities of every type, even various watersports. The calm shallow waters are ideal for families with little kids, and it is one of the reasons this area has become an important tourist resort of Corfu. The continuation of the beach towards Agios Spyridon is called Almyros, with sand hills, shallow water and taverns.
  • Kontokali (East Corfu): A relatively small - for the standards of the island - cosmopolitan beach a bit north of Corfu town with a lot of straw umbrellas and sunbeds that cover almost all the surface of the beach. It has shallow blue sea, sand with a little pebble, shops, taverns, beach bars and rooms to let.
  • Mpenitses (East Corfu): A crowded beach found a bit south of the town ofCorfu. It has sand with thin pebble, and many tourist facilities like water sports, hotels, restaurants, etc.
