Zante is blessed with some of the most splendid beaches in the
Greek islands. Most of them are found at the south and east parts of
Zante. When at a south beach, be careful not to accidentally damage a Caretta-Caretta nest while you anchor your umbrella in the sand.
- Navagio (West Zante): This is by far the most famous beach of Zante and one of the most famous in the entire world. It is also the most photographed place on Zante and the water is so blue that you will not want to stop staring. It is only accessible by boat, as it is surrounded by high and extremely steep mountains. The ship that makes the tour of Zante makes a stop here, but you can also get other boats in you only wish to come here. It is named Navagio, which means shipwreck in Greek, due to the ship that is found on the beach. This ship was used by smugglers who were transporting cigarettes, until it sank and was washed out on the beach by the sea. The beach is white, due to the large white pebbles, and the water of the sea has some amazing coloring. Everybody that comes to Zante visits this superb beach.
- Mavratzi (Southeast Zante): The small Mavratzi beach in the area of Vassiliki in next to a large hotel unit. It has fine sand, calm crystal sea and it is partly organized with umbrellas and sunbeds.
- Porto Zoro (Southeast Zante): A lovely beach in a verdant area with with nice straw umbrellas, sunbeds and a beach bar. It has calm clear sea and beautiful sand. There is a parking space that is quick to fill.
- Agios Nikolaos (Southeast Zante): A large popular beach with sand and nice sea in the area of Vassiliki. It is fully organized with water sports, beach bars, taverns, umbrellas and sunbeds.
- Laganas (South Zante): Found on Laganas Bay, this is the most popular beach of Zante. It is very long and it has great golden sand. It is a very well organized beach where you can find umbrellas, sea-bicycles, etc.
- Gerakas (South Zante): This is considered to be the best beach of Zante and is definitely the most quiet in Lagana Bay. The huge steep rocks standing over the sea here are a unique natural monument, making for a breath-taking scenery. It is less than 1 Klm long and you will not find any sort of buildings here.
- Dafni (South Zante): A beautiful sandy beach, less than 1 Klm long, very close to Sekania. Here you will find a few taverns - canteens, rattan umbrellas and deck chairs.
- Kalamaki (South Zante): A superb, long (3,5 Klm), sandy beach which is one of the most popular on Zante.
- Sekania (South Zante): This is the only beach of Zante where human activity is not allowed, as 50% of the sea turtles choose this beach to lay their eggs. It is the core of the National Maritime Park.
- Vrontonero (South Zante): A secluded beach with black sand, preferred by nudists. A cave is formed by two huge rocks, inside of which there is a spring with running water.
- Makris Gialos (Northeast Zante): A large beach with pebble and easy access. There is a canteen, some umbrellas and deck chairs. There also some caves that you can explore, getting away from the hot sun.
- Xigia (Northeast Zante): This is a unique beach, as the water here is healing thanks to the sulfur that comes out on the surface by a hot spring.
- Alikes - Alikanas - Planos (East Zante): These three long, sandy beaches attract a lot of tourists. They are well organized beaches, providing umbrellas, showers, deck chairs, etc. There are many taverns and hotels / rooms to let at close range.
- Tsilivi (East Zante): A well organized, long and popular beach. The water is shallow, making it an ideal beach for families with little kids.
