Beaches Of Schinoussa

Schinoussa offers some beautiful beaches, while the sea bottom is very promising. Most beaches of Schinoussaς are suited for wind-surfing, as they are exposed to the summer wind.
  • Tsigouri (West Schinoussa): This is the closest beach to Chora (5 minute walk) and the most visited. It is not very long but it offers excellent open-colored sand, blue-green water and large trees for shade. On the beach you will find free umbrellas, a volley-ball net and a beach bar. Be careful when walking in the sea as there are rocks at some points.
  • Mersini (West Schinoussa): It is also known as Piso Ammos beach. It is located behind the harbor and it offers quiet, still water, trees for shade and a couple of taverns.
  • Livadi (Southwest Schinoussa): A nice large beach with sand and crystal-clear water 10 minutes away from Chora. There you will find large trees for shade, rooms to let and taverns, while, due to its position, it is not protected from the wind.
  • Lioliou (Southeast Schinoussa): A small beach with pebble and sand, clean water and trees found in a picturesque bay, for those who seek peace and quiet. Close to the beach there are little shops and a large hotel unit.
  • Almyros (Southeast Schinoussa): This is a beach with nice sand that stretches for a long distance, divided in two by some huge rocks. Its shallow water makes it ideal for families with little kids. There are also trees for shade and a cantine where you can buy whatever you need.
  • Psili Ammos (Northeast Schinoussa): Undoubtedly the best beach of Schinoussa, with the only disadvantage being that it is exposed to the wind. It is not long but it has a tropical flavor thanks to its marvelous thin golden sand and its inviting turquoise water. It also has some trees but what makes it stand out from the rest of the beaches are that sand hills found all over.
  • Fykio (Northeast Schinoussa): A little sandy beach which may be hard to find. It has beautiful white sand, inviting water and an interesting seabed, but unfortunately it may be filled by sea-weed because of the weather. It is connected to Psili Ammos beach by a 15 minute footpath.
  • Gerolimnionas (Northeast Schinoussa): One of the most beautiful beaches of Schinoussa but one of the less popular as well, due to the difficult access, as a 20 minute walk is required to reach it starting from Messaria. It has fantastic white sand and emerald water that enchant the lucky visitors.
  • Fountana (East Schinoussa): A small beach with golden sand and blue-green water that often offers solitude. You will reach it in no time by following the trail that starts from Almyros beach.
