Beaches Of Psara


Psara have approximately 40 beaches for every taste. This means that even during the high season you will have the chance to find yourself alone is some beaches. The most popular and eaisly accessible beaches are the ones on the west side of the island, while the eastern beaches have wild beauty but cannot be reached through the road. You should definitely pay a visit to Antipsara islet for the incredible Psili Ammos beach. Here are some of the island's main beaches:
  • Psili Ammos (Αντίψαρα Psara): A fantastic beach, both long and wide, which is on the neighboring islet of Antipsara. You can only get here by boat, but the beauty of the beach, the enjoyable sand and the crystal sea make up for the trouble of visiting on of the most stunning beaches of Greece.
  • Lakka (West Psara): A lovely large stretch of sand at the west, in the Agios Nikolaos bay, about a 30 minute walk from the settlement. It offers lovely sea and easy access through the main road towards the wind farm. The beach also provides a nice view to the islets Nisopoula and Ai Nikolaki with the homonymous little chapel on top, which lie right across.
  • Arhontiki (West Psara): A nice large beach with sand and pebble. You will find it right next to Lakka while across the beach, very close to the shore, lies the Daskalio islet. On the right side of the beach there is a small church and a deserted building that spoils the look of the beach. In this area important archaeological findings have been discovered.
  • Kato Gialos (Southwest Psara): An unspoiled beach with pebble and turquoise sea a stone's throw away, south of the settlement with a west orientation. It ideal for a quiet swim.
  • Spitalia (Southwest Psara): A large beach with golden sand and clean sea which is right next to the settlement, to the south. On the left side of the beach there are some incomplete buildings while behind the rocks lie two more small beaches.
  • Lazareta (South Psara): For many people this is the best beach on the island. It has lovely sand and calm shallow sea, but there is no natural shade. You will find it at the south side of the island close to the settlement, which is a 10-15 minute walk. Here there are two more quiet and small beaches, one behind the rocks on your right hand and the other on your left, 3 minutes walk away through the path.
  • Fanari (South Psara): The southern of the island's beaches with pebble, clean sea and quiet. It was named after the great lighthouse which is in this area.
  • Limnos (South Psara): A long beach located south, a bit east of the settlement. It has sand with pebble but you will need an umbrella. It offers easy access through the road and it is rather quiet. High above there are Agios Theodoros and Agioi Anargyroi churches overlooking the beach.
  • Ftelio (Northwest Psara): A large beach with sand and pebble which is located between two mountains, a bit north of Arhontiki. It offers crystal clean sea but no natural shade. You will find it northwest, on your way to the Kimisi Theotokou Monastery.
  • Psara (Northeast Psara): A wonderful beach with enjoyable sand and clean shallow sea, next to the harbor. It is an ideal solution for those looking for a quick refreshing dip.
