Beaches Of Lemnos

Lemnos has countless beaches, almost 100, thanks to its extremely long coastline. Most beaches have sand and shallow sea, while many have the basic tourist infrastructure (umbrellas, sunbeds, etc). Below you can find the list of the main beaches, starting from the northwest edge of the island and moving clockwise.
  • Riha Nera (West Lemnos): A long (350 meters) organized stretch of sand in walking distance from Myrina. As its name suggests, its waters are shallow and ideal for children. It is the most popular of the beaches in this area as it offers amenities like umbrellas, sunbeds, water sports beach bars, rooms to let and taverns.
  • Avlonas (West Lemnos): It lies a bit after Riha Nera beach and it is recommended for those seeing something more quiet. It offers thick sand with little pebble, umbrellas, sunbeds and a canteen. On the left side of the beach you can see two small volcanic islets.
  • Platy (West Lemnos): This is one of the most famous beaches of Lemnos. Its shallow waters are ideal for families with kids. The beach gathers large crowds but it is so big that you will not feel crowded in any way. Naturally it is equipped with umbrellas, sunbeds, water sports, taverns and accommodation. It is located on the Platy bay, very close and a bit south of Myrina. Down the road you will come across two small secluded beaches.
  • Agios Giannis (West Lemnos): A cute beach with sand and clear shallow sea in a lovely landscape. It offers some straw umbrellas with sunbeds, beach bar, taverns and rooms to let. From Agios Giannis beach you can enjoy the sunset. It is located near Kaspakas village and you can easily reach the beach through the main road.
  • Skidi (Southwest Lemnos): A cute sandy beach with crystal clear shallow waters. It is situated at the southwest edge of the island, close to Parthenomytos, and it is cut-off because of its location, but getting to it is not hard. There is a lack of natural shade, so make sure you pack your umbrella.
  • Evgatis (Southwest Lemnos): A long popular beach with nice fine sand and clear sea. The central part of the beach is covered by umbrellas and sunbeds, while there are watersports, taverns and a beach bar.
  • Thanous (Southwest Lemnos): The large stunning beach of Thanous is one of the best on Lemnos. It has nice light sand, shallow clean sea, while the largest part of it is covered by umbrellas and sunbeds. You will find it at the southwest edge of the island, 6 klm south of Myrina. In the area there are taverns, rooms to let and seaside bar. Be careful to take the asphalt road, as there are others leading to the beach, but mind that it is narrow and winding as it passes through the village.
  • Louri (Southeast Lemnos): A beautiful unorganized beach with delightful thick sand. The beach has a rare beauty with its amazing blue-green waters.
  • Parthenomytos (Southeast Lemnos): Fine sand, crystal sea and a beautiful landscape make up the image of one of the top beaches of Lemnos. The only negative of the long exotic beach is the difficult access through a bad dirt road, especially the last 500 meters which you had better walk. You will find Parthenomytos at the southeastern edge of the island.
  • Diapori (Southeast Lemnos): A quiet beach with sand and deep waters, lying southeast on Kontia bay. It is not organized, but it does have some umbrellas and taverns in close range while it is easily accessible.
  • Mikro Fanaraki - Megalo Fanaraki (South Lemnos): Two nice neighboring beaches with easy access that get rather crowded. Both beaches are organized with umbrellas, sunbeds and beach bars, while Megalo Fanaraki also has a tavern. Megalo Fanaraki is longer (200 meters) facing west while Mikro Fanaraki faces north, so you can move from one to the other depending on the wind direction. They are located at the south part of Lemnos on Moudros bay where the sea is usually calm. At the edge of Mikro Fanaraki beach is the Seal Cave. Down the road there are two equally beautiful but quieter beaches, Havouli and Sagrida.
  • Neftina (Northeast Lemnos): A quiet long beach with fine light sand and blue sea. The landscape is distinct since on one side you can see the chapel of Panagia and a stream ends at the sea. Behind the chapel are two important attractions, the Cave of Philoktitis and the Archaeological Site of Kaveri. You will find Neftina beach northeast, close to the Kaviron Sanctuary, and you can reach it by a smooth dirt road of approximately 2 klm.
  • Zematas (Northeast Lemnos): One of the most popular beaches of Lemnos thanks to its fine white sand and crystal clear blue-green waters. It has calm shallow waters suitable for families with small children. It is long, about 350 meters and it is organized. The beach offers enough trees for shade, umbrellas, sunbeds, beach bar, water sports and taverns. A good dirt road of 4 kilometers from the village of Panagia will lead you to the beach.
  • Gomati (North Lemnos): A large beautiful beach with shallow sea on Gomati bay, with an islet at its side. Because of its length you are bound to find a quiet spot, although there are taverns and beach bars around. Unfortunately it is exposed to north winds, so be sure to check the weather before visiting. On this beach you will see some small sand dunes as well as a deserted tank from the World War II on top of a hill in the middle of the beach. Gomati beach is accessible through a smooth dirt road.
  • Agios Ermolaos (North Lemnos): A lovely beach that rarely gets crowded due to the rough dirt road that leads there. It has clear blue sea and thin sand, as well as kiosks placed by the municipality. You will find it close to Atsiki village.
  • Kotsinas (North Lemnos): A long family beach with shallow warm sea and a north orientation on the Pournia bay. It is easily accessible from the main road and it is organized with umbrellas, taverns and a beach bar.
  • Keros (East Lemnos): One of the most popular beaches of Lemnos thanks to the small sand dunes where sea lilies sprout. Its waters are shallow and turquoise. The beach is long and ideal for water sports (windsurf, surf, etc) as there are usually strong northern winds blowing. You will find it on the eastern part of the island, on the homonymous bay.
  • Kokkinovrahos (East Lemnos): The peaceful beach of Poliohni is a large, loverly stretch of sand.
