Beaches Of Lefkada

Lefkada has been blessed with some fantastic beaches whose pictures have traveled all over the world. Their tropical scent, the turquoise water and the beautiful white sand make Lefkada one of the most popular destinations in the world! The most impressive beaches are found at the west side of Lefkada.
  • Kathisma (West Lefkada): Kathisma is a beach with huge size, as it is both long and wide. The emerald water, the white sand and the impressive cliffs that surround it, create a unique feel. Kathisma is favored by young people because it is an organized beach with water sports, beach bars, shops, sunbeds and umbrellas. You need to be careful because the water deepens very suddenly.
  • Kalamitsi (West Lefkada): Kalamitsi is a fantastic beach in west Lefkada. The white sand along with the turquoise water and the rocks in the sea make it look like the exotic beaches found in tropical islands.
  • Porto Katsiki (Southwest Lefkada): This is the most famous of Lefkada while it has also been awarded best beach of Greece often taking the leading role in tourist campaigns. The thin strip of white land under the shadow of the imposing vertical rock combined with the fantastic deep blue water create an irresistible scenery to the tourist. To reach the beach you will have to climb down about 100 stairs starting from the parking lot, after first shooting plenty of pictures. The beach is separated in two parts by some rocks and it is located at the southwest part of Lefkada with easy access by car or by boat from Nydri or Vasiliki.
  • Egkremni (Southwest Lefkada): The only downside to this beautiful beach is the difficult access, as you will have to climb down around 300 stairs to reach it, except if you come by boat. Egkremni is one of the best beaches of Lefkada and very big in size. As its name suggests in Greek, this beach with the splendid white sand is surrounded by high mountain sides. Take a lot of pictures of the gorgeous landscape from above and get some water supplies from the cantine before starting to head down to the beach.
  • Mikros Gialos (Southeast Lefkada): At Rouda bay you will find the Mikros Gialos beach with the large white pebbles and the blue-green water. It offers peace and relaxation to tourists, plus its position protects it from winds. Only a small part of the beach is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. It is situated right underneath Poros village while you can find some rooms to let, taverns and cafeterias not far from the beach.
  • Vasiliki (South Lefkada): The beach at Vasiliki village is long with sand and shallow water, making it very suitable from families with little kids. The annual surf festival is held here, as this is among the top three ranking beaches in Europe and top ten beaches in the world for this sport. At the west part of the beach the sea is usually calm.
  • Agiofylli (South Lefkada): A very special beach with green-blue water and white pebble laying under the shadow of a steep rock. At the north edge of the beach there is a rock from where you can dive into the sea. You can reach Agiofylli beach by a rough dirt road and some walking, but it is easier to catch the boat from Vasiliki.
  • Agios Nikitas (Northwest Lefkada): This beach is small but it has crystal clear water and white sand. It gathers a lot of people, mainly families. It is right next to Agios Nikitas village and so has a lot of taverns, bars and cafeterias in close range.
  • Mylos (Northwest Lefkada): Mylos is one of the most stunning beaches of Lefkada thanks to its beautiful turquoise water and the thick sand. You can reach Mylos either by the boat that takes off from Agios Nikitas beach (6 Euro per person including return) or by foot through the long path that starts from Agios Nikitas village. Make sure you carry with you a lot of water and an umbrella, as there is no shade nor shops in Mylos.
  • Ammoglossa (North Lefkada): Ammoglossa is a beach of rare beauty, as a tongue of white sand penetrates into the blue water of the sea. Its main advantages are that its very close to Lefkada town and the great view it provides to the Agia Mavra Castle with the light-house right across.
  • Agios Ioannis - Myli - Petra (North Lefkada): These three nice beaches with the emerald water are in close range to the town of Lefkada and they stretch for a total of around 5 kilometers. They are a great attraction for fans of windsurf and kitesurf from all over the world, thanks to the strong winds that usually blow there. You will also see some traditional windmills that lie there, after which Myli beach has been named.
  • Pefkoulia (North Lefkada): A bit north of Agios Nikitas village you will find the long beach of Pefkoulia. The beach is divided in two by some rocks, with the left part having more tourism growth, with taverns, rooms to let, umbrellas and sunbeds. The scenery is relaxing as the thick sand mixed with pebble and the emerald water are combined with thick pine trees that reach very close to the sea. Mind the rocks inside the sea.
  • Gialos (North Lefkada): A very long beach at the west that spans about 3 kilometers, offering crystal water and a beautiful landscape to the visitors.
