Beaches in Kalymnos
Beaches Of KalymnosKalymnos is not known for its beaches, but it does have several beautiful beaches with crystal clear sea. You can also take a boat from Myrties and cross over to Telendos (few minutes) where the are some amazing beaches, or to the nearby Pserimos (half an hour) with a boat from Pothia where you will find some untouched beaches. - Linaria - Kantouni (West Kalymnos): In the touristic area of Panormos you will find the two beaches, Linaria and Kantouni. They both have sand, turquoise sea and some tamarisks, while there are some rocks scattered all around. Kantouni and Linaria beaches are essentially one and the same, but they are divided by some rocks. In the area there are taverns and rooms to let, while both beaches are easily accessible.
- Platys Gialos (West Kalymnos): It is close to Panormos, a bit north of Linaria and Kantouni beaches, offering much more quiet. It offers dark sand, shallow sea, tamarisk trees, taverns, mini-market and easy road access.
- Melitsahas (West Kalymnos): A relatively small sandy beach with tamarisks, clean sea, a few umbrellas and sunbeds. You will find it a bit south and very close to Myrties. In the same area is tourist infrastructure like taverns and rooms to let.
- Myrties (West Kalymnos): A large beautiful beach with shallow sea and a view to Telendos. All the amenities the seaside village has to offer are at your disposal, like coffee shops, taverns and rooms to let. From here you can get the boat to Telendos where there are many wonderful beaches.
- Masouri (West Kalymnos): A large organized stretch of sand, one of the best beaches on the island. It too has a view to Telendos, as it is located just above Myrties. It offers crystal sea, sunbeds, umbrellas, taverns, shops and accommodation.
- Agios Nikolaos (West Kalymnos): A small beach with nice sand and clean shallow sea very close to Myrties, in a landscape of wild natural beauty. Note that the beach continues behind the large rock.
- Akti (Southeast Kalymnos): A small peaceful beach at the southeast edge of the island, close to Vathy. It has sand and pebble, clean blue sea, a few tamarisk trees for shade and a tavern.
- Pothia (South Kalymnos): A popular beach with sand and pebble, thanks to its convenient location, right next to the capital. You will find shops, hotels and restaurants within walking distance.
- Vlyhadia (South Kalymnos): A small stretch of sand split in two, with some large tamarisk trees, in a narrow bay at the south side of the island. It offers calm crystal waters and a tavern, and you will find it a bit further down Vothini village.
- Arginonta (Northwest Kalymnos): It is located in a narrow bay with west orientation, a bit north of Masouri. It is partially organized with some large tamarisk trees, a few sunbeds with umbrellas, taverns and rooms to let. You can quickly and easily reach it through the main road.
- Emporios (North Kalymnos): A quiet beach at the north side of the island with a south orientation. It has clean sea but it is rather exposed to the winds. There are other small deserted beaches all around.
- Palionisos (North Kalymnos): This is one of the most beautiful beaches of Kalymnos with turquoise sea in a closed bay near Emporios, between imposing towering mountains. It offers lovely calm sea, pebble, a few sunbeds with umbrellas, taverns and easy road access. In the small bay with the concrete platform there are some small ships docked and some ducks.
