Skiathos is famous for its beaches. The most famous, and the ones with the less wind, are those at the south part of
Skiathos. If you want to avoid the crowds, you should visit some of the rest beaches of
Skiathos, other than the south ones and
Lalaria.
- Elia (West Skiathos): An amazing, long, sandy beach in a great location. It is best to come here by boat, otherwise you will have to leave your car at some point and walk the rest of the say for 15 minutes.
- Megalos Aselinos (West Skiathos): This is a gorgeous sandy beach with easy road access. The sand is thicker, different than that found at the other beaches of Skiathos. It is exposed to the northern winds but it more quiet that most beaches of the island.
- Kehria - Ligaries (West Skiathos): These two beaches are very close to each other. They are both nice sandy beaches, but they do not attract a lot of people, as the access is not easy and they are exposed to the northern winds. You can get there either by boat or by car, but be careful as that is a farm road.
- Koukounaries (South Skiathos): This beach and Lalaria are world-famous and the most popular of Skiathos. Koukounaries is a superb long and sandy beach with pine trees coming almost into the sea. The feeling of smelling the soft scent of the pine trees while swimming in the sea cannot be described.
- Mpanana (South Skiathos): At the other side of the hill when you are facing Koukounaries beach, lies this beautiful beach. You will need to walk about 15 minutes from the last bus stop in order to reach it and half of the way is uphill, but it is most certainly worth it. Beware that the last part of the beach, after the rock, as this is where nudists hang out.
- Agia Paraskevi (South Skiathos): A long beach with thin golden white sand. This is one of the top ranking beaches of Skiathos, partly due to the easy access. It is an organized beach with several hotels and taverns around.
- Vromolimnos (South Skiathos): This is one of the longest sandy beaches of Skiathos. There is a beach bar and some umbrellas available. There you can play beach volley and other water sports. It is a 15 minute walk from the bus stop.
- Troulos - Poros - Kolios - Platanias (South Skiathos): A series of remarkable sandy beaches next to Koukounaries that you should visit. They are popular, as they provide easy access, and you can find beach bars and umbrellas there.
- Megali Ammos - Ftelia - Vasilias - Ahladies (South Skiathos): A series of similar sandy beaches that are close to Skiathos town. Due to their location, they are protected from strong winds.
- Tzaneria - Kanapitsa - Kalamaki (South Skiathos): These three beaches are on a row, each with its small bay. They are very similar as they have great sand and are surrounded by pine trees.
- Lalaria (North Skiathos): This famous beach is very different than the rest of the beaches on Skiathos, as it is the only one not surrounded by trees. The rocky formations coming out of the sea and the round white pebbles (after which the beach is named) are the trademark of this great beach. You can only get here by boat, as long as winds permits it.
- Megas Gialos (North Skiathos): Located at the north part of Skiathos, it is a very beautiful and sandy beach.
- Xanemo (East Skiathos): This is the only beach at the east part of Skiathos worth mentioning. It is not as good as the rest beaches of Skiathos and there are always strong winds blowing there, which is something good for surfers. It has both sand and pebbles, and it is preferred by nudists.
