Beaches Of Rhodes


Rhodes has many and marvelous beaches, while almost all of them are organized. The most remarkable and popular ones are centered at the east coast of the island. Out of those, the more quiet are the south ones, beyond Lindos. Following is a list with some of the best beaches of the island starting from the north and moving clockwise.
  • Kiotari (Southeast Rhodes): A bit south of Lindos lies the Kiotari beach. It is a long stretch of sand mixed with thin pebble while it gets rather crowded as it is well organized. Here you will find umbrellas, sunbeds, watersports, hotels and taverns. At the edge of the beach you can find some quiet and colorful pebbles.
  • Agios Georgios (South Rhodes): A great beach with light sand found south that is suited for quiet, as it is not yet known to tourists. It offers shallow crystal water but there is no natural shade. It lies a bit north of Prasonisi and it is accessed through a dirt road.
  • Prasonisi (South Rhodes): Prosonisi is located at the southern edge of the island and it is an island itself, but it is connected with Rhodes by a strip of sand. This is exactly what makes it special, as this piece of sand has the sea at both sides. Besides an attraction, this beach is a dream come true for windsurfers which gather here from all over the world, because there are frequent winds. This is not an ideal beach for swimming, but it is worth visiting and taking some pictures.
  • Tsampika (Northeast Rhodes): A lovely beach favored by families as it offers shallow sea and nice golden sand. It attracts a lot of people but fortunately it is very long, but it lacks natural shade as there are no trees. The sea is clean while the beach offers amenities like watersports. High above the beach stands the Tsampika Monastery with a unique view to the beach.
  • Ialysos (North Rhodes): A large and lengthy organized beach with sand and pebble in one of the best tourist spots of Rhodes. The characteristic of the beach are strong frequent winds, which attracts windsurfers from all over the world. Not far from the beach you will find plenty of many large hotels and restaurants.
  • Beach of Rhodes (North Rhodes): This beach is found at the northern edge of Rhodes town and it is an ideal solution for those staying there. It has thick sand and it is fully organized with umbrellas, sunbeds, canteens, hotels and shops.
  • Ixia (North Rhodes): An endless stretch of pebble close to the town of Rhodes. It offers visitors lots of amenities, like umbrellas, sunbeds and water sports.
  • Kallithea (North Rhodes): A highly unusual beach as it has many large rocks scattered between the sand and the sea. It is not known to people and that is why it is rarely crowded, although the bay is scenic due to the pine trees and the steep rocks. The sea is shallow while there are plenty of umbrellas and sunbeds on the beach. Nearby there are the hot springs of Kallithea.
  • Faliraki (North Rhodes): Faliraki is one of the most famous places on Rhodes and for good reason, as it offers amazing sand that spans several kilometers. Thousands of people storm this beach every summer to enjoy its thin golden sand and its warm shallow sea. Naturally the beach is fully organized with countless umbrellas and sunbeds, hotels, restaurants and all kinds of tourist infrastructure like watersports and beach bars.
  • Antony Quinn (North Rhodes): A small beautiful beach surrounded by rocks and pine trees. It is no accident that it was favored by the famous actor Antony Quinn, after who the beach was named. As expected the beach is fully organized and due to its popularity and its small size you have to get there early if you expect to find a spot. Close by there is a cafe with a nice view to the beach.
  • Ladiko (North Rhodes): A very scenic and small beach located in a narrow bay. It is completely covered by umbrellas and sunbeds, while being surrounded by rocks. It provides visitors lovely green water and thin sand.
  • Afantou (North Rhodes): A vast beach with dark pebble mixed with thick sand. It is so large that you will have no trouble finding organized sections as well as quiet corners. The beach offers shallow sea that deepens suddenly, taverns, rooms to let, seaside bars, watersports, and more.
  • Kolympia (North Rhodes): A large organized stretch of sand found at the end of a scenic route with the road being cover by eucalyptus trees. It is a beautiful and rather popular beach, but without being too fussy. It has nice blond sand, clean sea, umbrellas, sunbeds, hotels, taverns, etc.
  • Traganou (North Rhodes): A vast beach that is favored by the locals because it is less organized.
  • Agkathi (East Rhodes): This beautiful beach is fully organized and it offers golden sand and shallow sea. It is one of the best beaches of the island but it only has umbrellas, sunbeds and 3 beach bars, while there is absolutely nothing else in the area. You will find it a bit north of Haraki. There are no trees, but the umbrellas take over the entire beach anyway.
  • Haraki (East Rhodes): Haraki beach is located a bit north of Vlyha, next to the Haraki village, under the shadow of the majestic castle. It is a wonderful beach with sand and pebble, with the only downside the surrounding building development as the houses almost reach the beach. It attracts a lot of people, mainly those staying in Haraki, while everything you might need are at close range.
  • Vlyha (East Rhodes): A nice and quiet sandy beach, big both in length and width, found at the east side of the island, a bit north of Lindos. The shallow sea is ideal for families with little kids while the thin golden sand alternates with pebble at points. The beach offers all sorts of amenities like parking, shops, taverns and hotels, while large parts of it are organized with umbrellas and sunbeds. Further down lies the Kalathos beach that is similar to this one.
  • Lindos (East Rhodes): The main beach of Lindos is long and has the Acropolis standing right over it. It is one of the most famous beaches of the island, fully organized, with rich sand and clean sea. There is great tourist infrastructure while there is the neighboring beach Lindos Palace for those who wish to avoid the large crowds, as it is a bit more quiet.
  • Agios Pavlos (East Rhodes): A bit south of the Lindos Acropolis lies this small rocky bay which is hosting the beach of Agios Pavlos. It is a beach of rare natural beauty as it looks like a pool from above, due to the rocks surrounding it. The sea is shallow, the sand is golden and the scenery is heavenly, while there are umbrellas, sunbeds and a canteen. The beach was named after the little white church that stands at its edge.
  • Pefki (East Rhodes): A lovely and rather quiet beach with nice sand and clean shallow sea. It is named after the pine threes that cover the area, while right over the beach lies the Pefki village. You will find it at the back side of Lindos.
