Patmos is not famous for its beaches, as visitors lick the island for other reasons. However,
Patmos has scenic beaches with clean sea. Fans of pebble beaches will be happy on
Patmos. The main beaches of
Patmos are:
- Petra (South Patmos): This beach is next to Grikos but it is more quiet. It has pebble, few sunbeds and a beach bar. At one side of the beach it is hard to miss the gigantic rock which is called by the locals Rock of Kalikatsou.
- Psili Ammos (South Patmos): This is considered to be the best beach of Patmos. It has beautiful thin sand but it is not easy to reach, as you will either have to go by boat from Skala or you will have to walk for about half an hour. Psili Ammos beach is located at the south of Patmos.
- Twin Beaches (Northeast Patmos): As their name suggests (Didimes paralies in Greek) those are two identical small and quiet sandy beaches that are separated by a huge rock. They are also known as Liginou beaches and they are close to Skala to the north.
- Grikos (Northeast Patmos): This is the beach of Grikos village found at south Patmos. It offers to tourists great sand, crystal waters and lots of trees for shade.
- Livadi Geranou (Northeast Patmos): A rather quiet and beautiful sandy beach. It is surrounded by pine trees which come very close to the sea and provide shade to tourists. From the beach you can see at close distance an islet with a little chapel on top.
- Lampi (North Patmos): A beach with sand and clear water at the north known for its colorful pebbles that produce a beautiful glow under the rays of the sun. The beach itself was named after this effect as Lampi means Glows in Greek.
