Beaches Of Nisyros

In the northern and northeastern part of the island the beaches are sandy and smooth, while the rest part is rocky and steep with cliffs. The few beaches of Nisyros usually have pebble. By boat you can reach the nearby Gyali island where pumice is extracted and 2-3 lovely beaches are found, ideal for isolation.
  • Avlaki (South Nisyros): It is located at the south edge of Nisyros, but although it is so far away it is easily accessible through the road. It has pebble and a view to the Agios Panteleimonas Monastery located directly behind it.
  • Agios Savvas (Northwest Nisyros): A small dark beach with sand and pebble located close to Mandraki.
  • Hohlaki (Northwest Nisyros): An impressive beach of great natural beauty with large black pebble and blue sea. It is in walking distance from Mandraki towards southwest, following the path that starts from Panagia Spiliani.
  • Gyaliskari (North Nisyros): This is one of the most famous beaches of Nisyros, located a bit east of Mandraki. the beach is also called Lefki Ammos (white sand) but that throws you off, as ti has thin dark sand. There are some trees for shade, a tavern and rooms to let.
  • Pali (North Nisyros): A rather large stretch of thin sand and many tamarisk trees along the coast. It is found next to Pali village and it gathers a lot of people because there are shops, taverns and rooms to let in short range.
  • Pachia Ammos (East Nisyros): The most beautiful beach of Nisyros, relatively small in length but rather wide. It offers black sand and clear deep sea, but there are no trees around for shade. You will find it close to Pali village where you can leave your car and walk for 10-15 minutes. Due to its position it is favored for free camping and nudism.
  • Lies (East Nisyros): A long beach that is divided into smaller ones. It offers dark sand with pebble but no natural shade. You will find it a bit after Pali village.
