The beaches of
Iraklia are protected from winds, as the surrounding islands stop the waves.
- Alimia (Southwest Iraklia): This is one of the most beautiful beaches of Iraklia with sand and pebble, and you can reach it either with boat or by a considerable amount of walking. Its ravishing water hides a war plane that sunk here during the Second World War and it is at a depth of 9 meters, so make sure you pack your diving mask.
- Karvounolakos (Southwest Iraklia): Another beach accessible only by boat. It has great light-colored sand and thin pebble, while its water has a unique color. It is found very close to Alimia beach.
- Livadi (Northeast Iraklia): One of the best beaches of Iraklia that is located at the west side. It is especially popular thanks to its great white sand, its shallow water and the easy access through the asphalt road of Iraklia. The beach also offers to visitors some tamarisk trees for shade and a beach bar, while the camping is near by.
- Agios Georgios (Northeast Iraklia): Although this beach is next the harbor of Iraklia, its water is very clean. The beach offers blue-green water, large tamarisk trees for shade, several shops and easy access.
- Vorini Spilia (North Iraklia): A nice sandy beach with very clear water, but it is exposed to the wind. It is named after the two small caves that are found there. It is a ten minute walk to this beach from Agios Georgios village.
- Tourkopigado (East Iraklia): A beach with white pebbles and inviting green-blue water. It is easy to reach and in fact the dirt road that leads to the beach is in the process of being paved.
