Beaches Of Amorgos

Amorgos does not offer endless sandy beaches and it is generally not known for its beaches, but the water of the sea is crystal clean.
  • Agia Anna (Κεντρική Amorgos): The entire area of Agia Anna became known because of the movie Deep Blue (Le Grand Bleu) of Luc Besson. The deep blue color of the sea from above impresses visitors and justifies the title of the movie. This is one of the smallest beaches of Amorgos and usually incapable of hosting the crowds that come here to swim in its famous clean water. The beach has sand mixed with thin pebble and many rocks. Agia Anna beach is easy to get to because it is close to Chora and the bus routes are quiet frequent. There is a difficult path starting from Agia Anna that leads to Kampi beach, which is a nudist hangout.
  • Kato Akrotiri (Κεντρική Amorgos): This little sandy beach is situated very close to Katapola. It is usually filled with people as it offers easy access and some straw umbrellas.
  • Xylokeratidi (Κεντρική Amorgos): A small and narrow beach with sand and pebble. Its main advantage is that the water here is usually very calm. It is found very close to Katapola.
  • Maltezi (Κεντρική Amorgos): The beach is laid with sand and pebble, and it is sheltered from the wind in a small bay close to Katapola. Although main access is through the sea (there is a path starting from Xylokeratidi), this is one of the most popular beaches of Amorgos. Maltezi is an organized beach with umbrellas, sunbeds and a beach bar.
  • Gramvoussa (Southwest Amorgos): This is one of the most beautiful beaches of Amorgos with crystal clear water and thin white pebble which, from a distance, looks like sand. I does not get crowded, but this is only due to the difficult access, as people can only come here by sea.
  • Kalotaritissa (Southwest Amorgos): The windless beach with the green-blue water is located at the south-west edge of Amorgos. It attracts a lot of people because of the nice sand and the easy road access, while there are also sunbeds and a cantine.
  • Mouros (Southwest Amorgos): An idyllic and pretty unusual beach as the sand and pebble have a gray color while the rocks around the beach are white. The view of the beach from high above impresses visitors and the blue crystal water of the sea make the - tiresome but short - climbing up and down worth the effort. Access to the stairs that lead down to the beach is easy (there is also a bus stop here) while there is also a cafe / snack bar in the parking lot. Inside the sea the are several large rocks from which you can take a dive into the sea. At one side of the beach there are some caves, while there are also a couple of underwater caves as well.
  • Liveros (Southwest Amorgos): A small beach with rocks that became famous because of the scenes that were shot here for the Deep Blue movie. It is an amazing sight that attracts a lot of tourists because of the merchant ship Olympia that crushed on a reef and was left here ever since, half of it being under the sea.
  • Egiali (Northeast Amorgos): This long beach that starts from the harbor and ends in Fokiotrypa is very popular, as it provides nice sand and easy access. Along the beach you can find beach bars and rooms to let, although the beach is not organized.
  • Levrossos (Northeast Amorgos): A gorgeous beach in the area of Aigiali with green water and sand. Access to the beach is easy through the asphalt road while there are severals rooms to let and a tavern close to the beach. Levrosos used to be a nudist beach, but not anymore.
  • Agios Pavlos (North Amorgos): It is without doubt the most impressive beach of Amorgos thanks to the white tongue of land that goes into the sea. This sight along with the turquoise water makes the cameras of passing by visitors to get on fire.
