Most beaches you will find on
Alonissos are organised and have pebble. Naturally, being the rule in
Sporades, almost all beaches are situated in pine-filled landscapes and have green-blue water. The best and most easily accessible beaches are located at the south part of
Alonissos.
- Agios Dimitrios (West Alonissos): This is definitely the most impressive beach of Alonissos. The white tongue of land entering the sea, the amazing blue water, the white pebble and the verdant landscape give this beach a tropical look. Agios Dimitrios is a very popular beach, large is size and organized with umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. On the beach there is also a cantine.
- Gialia (Southwest Alonissos): A beach with pebble which is easy to reach from Chora via a smooth dirt road. The picturesque landscape with the narrow bay is completed by the highly photographed windmill which oversees the beach (on your left). Take a walk to visit the windmill and discover the watermill that stands hidden right behind it.
- Tourkoneri (Southwest Alonissos): A small beach surrounded by rocks at the pine forest of the southwest side of Alonissos. This beach is exactly what you need if you are trying to rest and escape from the rest of the world. In order to reach it you will have to walk from the end of the dirt road. Close by there are several other small beaches that you can discover.
- Megalos Mourtias (South Alonissos): A beautiful beach close to Chora which is protected from the wind thanks to its position. It offers crystal clear water and pebble, while from one point on its seabed has sand. You can easily access the beach from Chora through a short dirt road. On the beach you will find some taverns.
- Vythisma (South Alonissos): Between the beaches of Megalos Mourtias and Marpounta lies the Vythisma beach. It is a quiet sandy beach with few visitors in a bay which is covered by trees. It is easy to miss the path that leads to the beach, so keep a close eye.
- Marpounta (South Alonissos): This beach is in an idyllic location with a view to Skopelos island. Marpounta is an organized but tranquil beach with water sports under the shade of pine trees. Right above the beach you can see the hotel that bears the same name.
- Rousoum Gialos (South Alonissos): This popular beach with the easy access has the nearby settlement to thank for its weird name. It offers clean turquoise water and pebble, while in short range there are several taverns. It is fairly protected from the wind thanks to its south orientation and the narrow bay that shelters it.
- Milia (South Alonissos): An organised beach with thin pebble close to Patitiri. Here the pine trees almost reach the waves of the sea and its turquoise water give it an almost tropical scent.
- Chrysi Milia (South Alonissos): This is considered to be one of the most beautiful organized beaches of Alonissos and consequently gathers a lot of people. It has sand, turquoise water and its water is shallow, which makes it ideal for families with little kids. On the beach there is a tavern with fresh fish.
- Kokkinokastro (South Alonissos): This is a beautiful beach in an imposing scenery thanks to the red rock which is the northern boundary of the beach. The beach is long and organized with umbrellas and sunbeds, and as an added bonus there is plenty of space for parking.
- Tzortzi Gialos (South Alonissos): A narrow beach with green-blue water in a verdant landscape. The beach with the shallow water has pebble and a few taverns around. Before reaching the beach you will get the chance to admire it - and photograph it - from above.
- Leftos Gialos (South Alonissos): Peaceful beach with clean water and white pebble located very close to Kokkinokastro. Behind the beach there is a forest of olive trees and on the beach there are several good fish taverns.
- Glyfa (South Alonissos): This is a quiet and easily accessible beach which is never crowded as it is almost hidden. It has beautiful turquoise water, thick pebble and it is situated right next to Steni Vala.
