Megalo Chorio


Megalo Chorio is a scenic mountainous village with remarkable architecture, fabulous sea view and a lot of green thanks to the running water. Besides the stone houses you can admire the Archangel church with its pebbled courtyard which is a real work of art, and you will walk on the whitewashed alleys with the blooming yards and balconies. There are even more thing to see here, like the castle ruins, the frescoes of the Agios Ioannis church and several monuments.

Mikro Chorio


This settlement was founded by the Knights of Rhodes but it has been totally abandoned for years now, with the sole exception of a bar which attracts a lot of people at night, especially youth. However, it is also worth visiting during daytime in order to admire the beautiful view, since the village is built amphitheatrically on a mountainside, the restored church and the ruined stone houses.

Tilos Paleontological Museum


This small museum is housed in the ground floor of the Town Hall and it is famous for the exhibition of the dwarf elephant bones that were discovered in Harkadio Cave. Besides this impressive collection you will see human skulls, pottery, sculptures, reliefs and figurines ranging up to the Hellenistic Ages.

Knights Castle


On Tilos there are remains of several medieval castles, with the Knights Castle of Megalo Chorio standing out. It was built by the St. John Knights on the same spot where the ancient Acropolis stood, at the hillside. Inside you will come across the Archangel church which has a Gothic facade and was built in 14th-15th century on top of an ancient temple, while internally there are still preserved remarkable frescoes. Other medieval castles are that of Agiosykia with the ruins of the homonymous church and that of Messaria.

Agios Panteleimon Monastery


The monastery was founded on 1470 inside a cave at an altitude of 450 meters, about 7 kilometers from Megalo Chorio, in a green valley with running water. It features a remarkable wood-carved iconostasis of 1714 and murals of the 15th century, while the painting of the dome is the work of Grigorios Symaios. The monastery consists of a stone-built fortification, a stunning pebbled courtyard, a rectangular tower, cells, warehouses and other spaces. The capitals of the internal columns are of early Christian style. It is here where the large festival takes place on July 25th-27th.

Tilos Ecological Park


The famous Ecological Park of Tilos is nothing more than a large (almost 35 kilometer long) network of paths. Here there are concentrated the most remarkable plant and animal sample of Tilos.
