Natually the heart of Skopelos beats in Chora where you can go out at night and have fun. GlossaThis is the second largest settlement on Skopelos. It is a picturesque village in a verdant landscape with a unique view of the sea as it is built about 250 meters above the sea surface. Venetian CastleThe only thing left from the Venetian castle of Skopelos are the ruins of its walls. It is worth climbing up there to admire the panoramic view of the town and visit the little churches and shops that are found there. EpiskopiEpiskopi was built by the Enetians and was originally intended to be a fortress, that is why it is surrounded by such tall walls. The stone paved entrance lead to the chappel of Panagia which was built during the 16th century on top of the ruins of two older temples, one of 11th centruy and one of 7th century. Next to the entrace of he church stands tall an impressive three-storey tower. Inside the church it is worth seeing the engraved inscriptions and the ancient relief bearing the date 1078, when the older byzantine basilica was built. The church celebrates on August 23th when the place is open for the ceremony after which there is are celebrations. Agios IoannisAn impressive tall rock that stands over the sea with the small byzantine church of Agios Ioannis on its top that celebrates on August 29th. The church is small but world-wide famous thanks to the Mamma Mia movie, since this is where the wedding takes place at the end.
