Waterfalls

The Waterfalls are at the all green Dimosari canyon, very close to Nydri, and they are one of the most remarkable attraction of Lefkada. The Archaeological Museum of the island is in the town of Lefkada and it is one of the smallest of its kind, housed in the Cultural Center building. The museum accommodates findings from the Paleiolithic era up until the late Roman era. One of the four rooms of the museum is dedicated to the German archaeologist Wilhelm Dorpfeld showcasing some of the findings from his excavations (tools, pottery, jewels, etc) since he is the one who formed the theory that Lefkada is in fact Homer's Ithaca. Folklore Museums

Lefkada has several folklore museums, in Karya, Kavalos and Lefkada Town. In Kavallo the folklore museum is housed inside part of an old elementary school where there is a representation of the rooms (kitchen, bedroom, etc) of the traditional house of Lefkada, also exhibiting tools, photographs from older professions, and more (telephone 26450 61210). Melissa Canyon

This green-filled canyon is located a bit north of Kavallos village. It is a great idea to walk in the canyon that is filled with all sorts of trees (cypress, platanus, oak, wild rosebush and much more) and animals (skunks, ferrets, hedgehogs, and other). The various paths will lead you to village ruins, watermills, stone bridges, wells and springs. It is a refreshing experience really worth your time.

Lefkada Tour

A good idea, if you have a day to spare, would be to go on a cruise at the surrounding islands. The ship that departs at 9:00 in the morning from Nydri, Odyssia, is the first thing that will impress you, as it looks like an ancient ship. The ship will take you to some beaches of Lefkada, the Papanikoli Cave, Meganisi island and Scorpios island (the island of the Onasis family). The cruise ends in the afternoon with the return to Nydri while during the trip the crew will provide you with unique home-made delicacies.
