It is one of the oldest museums in Greece, built in 1905. It has a large collection, mostly of ceramic art of 9th up to 5th century B.C. gathered from the near by Greek islands. Among the exhibits there are some ceramic pots of the Prehistoric era, proving that there was a civilization on Mykonos since the 3rd millenium B.C.
