Apollonia


The capital of Sifnos is named after god Apollon, god of the sun, and it is a beautiful and graphic settlement. The Steno, the central alley of Apollonia, is the most popular part where you will find most of the shops and taverns. The freshly painted white alley with the bougainvilleas creates images coming out of a fairy-tale. This is where you will be talking a walk every single day and not get enough of it. Beware that during August it may be too crowded to enjoy.

Artemonas


A beautiful scenic village very close to Apollonia. There are few shops and several taverns in this village, but it is not as crowded as Apollonia. A walk in the picturesque alleys is highly recommended as is getting something to eat for breakfast from the local bakeries. Here you can also get some great traditional marzipan.

Chrysopigi Monastery


As you are approaching the monastery of Chrysopigi you will see it from a distance down below, near Faros. It one of nature's most impressive works of art and makes of a perfect picture. It is like the rock has been sliced in two, leaving the monastery basically on its own tiny island. According to tradition, this was done by divine power to protect the monastery from attacking pirates.

Castro


The Castro (castle) is quite big and make for a great romantic walk. This was built to offer protection to the villagers by pirates, but nowadays you will only find cute little shops, bars and restaurants inside the Castle.

Archaeological Museum of Sifnos


At the Castro settlement lies the Archaeological Museum of Sifnos. It has a collection of impressive archaeological findings dating from the 3rd millennium BC until the Byzantine era.

Eptamartyron Church


A cute little church in a beautiful scenery behind the Castro. You will have to climb a lot of stairs to return from the church but it would truly be a shame not to visit it.
