In the area of Platanias, just a 20 minute drive from Chania town, lies the underground war shelter that has been developed for tourism. It is basically a 170 meter underground gallery with rooms where various items from the time of the war are exhibited, as well as articles and photographs of that era. It is a unique experience as the surrounding area really takes you back to that era. Entrance is free.
