Beaches Of Kea (Tzia)

Tzia has a lot of remarkable beaches, many of which are ideal for seclusion thanks to their difficult access. The main beaches are usually crowded as they offer nice sand and clean sea.
  • Xyla (West Kea (Tzia)): The solitary Xyla beach is at the west coast of the island, a bit south of Korissia. It has light sand and clean blue sea, but it is not organized and it has no shade at all. You can get to the beach by a smooth dirt road of 3 kilometers that starts from Korissia.
  • Pisses (West Kea (Tzia)): This rather large organized beach is found west, at about the middle of the island, and it offers light-colored sand, tamarisk trees and straw umbrellas. On the beach you will also find a beach volley net and some taverns, while on its left there is a small dock. There is an asphalt road leading to the beach, behind of which you can find the only organized camping of the island.
  • Kampi (Southwest Kea (Tzia)): This beach is situated in a beautiful yet deep bay, next to the Kampi village. It is a peaceful beach with blue water, some trees and a tavern above the road. It is found at the south of the island, 3 kilometers further down from Koundouros.
  • Koundouros (Southwest Kea (Tzia)): This beach is sheltered in the protected bay of Koundouros, in an area with intense residential development and nowadays a lot of green, thanks to the gardens of the newly built houses. It is an organized beach with sand and a lot of tamarisk trees right behind the beach bar that rents the umbrellas and the sunbeds. There is an asphalt road leading to the beach while you can find three more beaches close by (Freas, Hiliomodou and Lygia) which are laid with sand and pebble.
  • Kaliskia (Southeast Kea (Tzia)): A beach ideal for isolation at the southeast of the island, close to Karthea. The beach is laid with sand and pebble, and it has clean green-blue water, while there are also some tamarisk trees that cast their shade.
  • Gialiskari (Northwest Kea (Tzia)): A relatively small and narrow beach at Gialiskari with sand and plenty of shade thanks to the tamarisk trees. Its basic advantages are the easy access through the road, the few unusual umbrella-like constructions with the white cloths, and its famous beach bar. It is located at the northwest of the island, only one kilometer away from Korissia.
  • Korissia (Northwest Kea (Tzia)): The sandy beach at the harbor of Korissia has clean sea and calm water, thanks to the protected bay. The beach offers easy access, straw umbrellas and a view of the Korissia settlement right across.
  • Psili Ammos (Northeast Kea (Tzia)): A small beach with magnificent thin sand at the northeast. The only people it does not attract a lot of people is the hard access, as in order to reach it you have to walk quiet a bit from the nearby deserted beach Kalydonyhi, which has pebble and cold crystal water. An umbrella is required for both beaches, as none of them has natural shade.
  • Spathi (Northeast Kea (Tzia)): At the northeast edge of the island lies this quiet and large - both in length and width - fantastic sandy beach. It has nice sand, clean blue sea and a tavern, but almost no shade at all. You can reach the beach by a long dirt road of approximately 5 kilometers.
  • Otzias (North Kea (Tzia)): This long beach is one of the most popular of the island and it is sheltered in a closed bay to the north. It is preferred by families as the beach offers a lot of facilities like tall trees, kiosks, benches, rooms to let, taverns and easy access through the main road.
  • Orkos (East Kea (Tzia)): A large beach with some tamarisks and deep blue water located in east Kea, in the middle of the island. To reach it you should follow the road that connect Kato Meria to Ioulida, while the last part of the road is a dirt road.
  • Sykamia (East Kea (Tzia)): One of the most beautiful beaches of the island with turquoise green water at the east coast, at about the middle of the island. It is laid with sand and pebble and the main reason it does not attract crowds is the nasty dirt road that leads to it.
