On Rethymno, like the rest of Crete, there are countless beautiful beaches for every taste. Most of the beaches of the north coast can be hard to enjoy on windy days.
  • Preveli (South Crete - Rethymno): Preveli Beach is located in the south coast of Rethymno. It is a popular beach of amazing beauty with a mix of sand and thin pebble, crystal clear waters, and palm trees that line the river that flows into the sea. The beach is accessible by car and there is a parking area nearby. It is organized with several beach bars and taverns.
  • Panormos (South Crete - Rethymno): Panormos Beach is located in the north side, east of Rethymno town. It is a rather small yet popular sandy beach with clear blue waters. The beach is accessible through the main road and there is a parking space nearby.
  • Damnoni (South Crete - Rethymno): Damnoni Beach is located in the south coast of Rethymno region. It is a beautiful long beach with soft white sand and crystal clear waters. It is popular but due to its size it rarely get too crowded. There are no trees, but the beach is organized with a few beach bars and tavernas nearby. The beach is accessible by car and there is parking space. A bit southeast lie three more small but lovely beaches, Ammoudi, Mikro Ammoudi and Klisidi.
  • Souda (South Crete - Rethymno): Souda Beach is located on the south coast of Crete, near the Plakias village. The beach is large with a mix of sand and thin pebble. It is organized and there is a series of trees along the shoreline for natural shade. Souda Beach is easily accessible and there is a small parking lot nearby.
  • Triopetra (South Crete - Rethymno): Triopetra Beach is located on the south coast of Crete and it has some impressive rock formations. The beach is large with thick golden sand and crystal clear water. Parts of it are organized while there are a few trees for shade. Triopetra Beach is easily accessible by car, and there is a a lot of parking space.
  • Episkopi (South Crete - Rethymno): Episkopi Beach is located on the north coast of Crete, near the town of Episkopi. The beach is relatively long and has crystal clear water. The sand here is soft and golden, and there are a few trees along the coast. Episkopi Beach is organized and easily accessible by car, while there is a large parking lot. It has several restaurants and cafes, as well as facilities for renting sunbeds and umbrellas. At its east side lies the small Petres beach.
  • Agios Pavlos (South Crete - Rethymno): Agios Pavlos Beach is located on the south coast of Crete, near the village of Agios Pavlos. It is very impressive as it is surrounded by rugged cliffs and sand hills. The beach is relatively short but it does not get crowded because there is no easy access as there are stairs to climb down. There are no trees and the beach is not organized. If it gets windy there is another beach next to it with south orientation and easy road access.
  • Bali (North Crete - Rethymno): Bali Bay is located in the north coast, 30 kilometers east of Rethymno town. It has three organized beaches in a row that are similar, all picturesque, easily accessible with sand and shallow sea. Thanks to their east orientation the sea is usually calm. Bali beach is organized and popular, and quite small, but it is very picturesque. Karavostasi beach is rather small and it has thin pebble. Livadi beach is large with sand and watersports.
  • Spilies (North Crete - Rethymno): Spilies Beach is a small beach located on the north coast of Crete, east of Rethymno town. The beach is surrounded by rugged cliffs making the beach look impressive. The sand here is soft and golden, and there are umbreallas and sunbeds.
  • Geropotamos (North Crete - Rethymno): Geropotamos Beach is located in the north coast, about 20 km east of Rethymno city. It has a mix of sand and pebbles, clear blue waters, and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The beach is easily accessible and there is a parking area nearby. The beach is not very crowded and there are no trees on the beach, but it is organized with umbrellas and sunbeds.
