Information On Koufonisia

Koufonisia is an island complex of Upper Koufonisi, Lower Koufonisi and Keros. The Lower Koufonisi and Keros are uninhabited islands, so usually when people say Koufonisia they refer to the Upper Koufonisi. Koufonisia islands belong to the Small Cyclades complex, which also include Donousa, Schinousa and Iraklia.

Koufonisia is synonymous with walking. But that should not worry you, since the island is so small that you can cross it by foot in about 30 minutes. The same goes for Lower Koufonisi where there are no roads at all. However, the fantastic beaches with the emerald water that you will find will make it up to you.

If you find yourselves on Koufonisi on the last Saturday of June then you are in luck, as not only you will avoid the over-crowded high season but you will also coincide with the Fisherman Festivities. There the locals will offer you great delicacies which they will just have fished out of the sea under the sounds of traditional live music.
