The church of Taxiarhis (Archangel Michael) in Mantamados is one of the most important attractions of Lesvos. The icon of Archangel Michael is said to have been created with mud and the blood of monks. It is also quiet unique to see the iron shoes that are brought to the Archangel by the people.
