This is the largest monastery on Kythira located west, in a place with lots of myrtle trees, after which it was probably named. You can see the monastery from a distance, thanks to the imposing 26 meter tall belfry made of limestone. The most impressive thing to see here is the icon of Panagia Myrtidiotissa, while there are other rare ecclesiastical relics kept in the basement.
