The Archaeological Museum of the island is in the town of Lefkada and it is one of the smallest of its kind, housed in the Cultural Center building. The museum accommodates findings from the Paleiolithic era up until the late Roman era. One of the four rooms of the museum is dedicated to the German archaeologist Wilhelm Dorpfeld showcasing some of the findings from his excavations (tools, pottery, jewels, etc) since he is the one who formed the theory that Lefkada is in fact Homer's Ithaca.
