This imposing castle is the first thing you see when you enter the port of Kos by ship. It is also called Castle of Neratzia or simply Castle of the Port. It was built in the 15th century AC by the Knights of the Order of Saint John in order to protect Kos from the raids of the Turks. Every summer the castle houses all sorts of cultural activities.
