Archaeological Site of Maroula Attraction
At Maroulas location, excavations have uncovered human skeletons and architectural remains of the Mesolithic Period (8000-6000 B.C.). The skeletons were found in a sitting positions and are the oldest outdoor burials in the Aegean region, while there was also a piece of paved floor found, belonging to an ancient house, bone and stone tools, and positions of round houses. The ancient settlement of Maroulas is currently the oldest outdoor settlement found in Greece.
