A bit north of Nimporio lies the castle and the ancient city ruins. Nowadays all that is left are the walls from the ancient houses and the ruins from the castle foundations. At the castle entrance there is a crest of a great Master of the Knights of Rhodes curved on the wall. Inside the castle you can see the ruins of the church of Agios Nikolaos with 15th-17th century murals.
