Episkopi Attraction
Episkopi was built by the Enetians and was originally intended to be a fortress, that is why it is surrounded by such tall walls. The stone paved entrance lead to the chappel of Panagia which was built during the 16th century on top of the ruins of two older temples, one of 11th centruy and one of 7th century. Next to the entrace of he church stands tall an impressive three-storey tower. Inside the church it is worth seeing the engraved inscriptions and the ancient relief bearing the date 1078, when the older byzantine basilica was built. The church celebrates on August 23th when the place is open for the ceremony after which there is are celebrations.
